The whole premise of the game is to explore a dungeon. Turning an auto-generated map off in a setting would absolutely be a worthwhile alternative. The drawn map doesn't need to be detailed, just a box with some gaps for rooms/doors/etc. I was thinking that the need to manually draw the map is a) more realistic and b) forces the player to be more aware of their surroundings. I think it's better for cartography lovers to add the "no map" option to the complexity settings. Drawing a map on is not part of the game and spends a lot of time without having fun. Personally, the gameplay is interesting to me. It seems to me that drawing a map is a completely different genre ))) And for this game it seems completely superfluous. This would be even more amazing if you ever developed into procedurally random generated levels. every game of this genre has a map it's dull, it's so, so dull and detracts from a lot of the atmosphere.Ī FANTASTIC possible thing could be the player finds a pencil and can "draw" (using the mouse) their own map in the game, their own map.
